About Us

Dan & Anne

In 2006, a young couple from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, drawn to the area by family ties, moved in. Ann McCurdy Kolenick had just completed her pastry art degree with honors from the prestigious Restaurant School at Walnut Hill in Philadelphia. Ann had already earned a Hotel and Restaurant Management Degree from the University of South Carolina. Ann continues her love for baking by creating and baking desserts daily. Ann’s most recent addition to the dessert menu earned her 1st Place at the 2010 Chocolate Festival Bake-Off with her Bourbon Street Chocolate Banana Cake! Her husband, Dan, wanted to hone his extensive restaurant experience. Together they took on the project of turning McCurdy’s into a dining destination to locals and visitors in the beautiful Southern Outer Banks. They painted the outside of the building yellow and blue and completely renovated the inside. They added 7 floating boat-slips to conveniently dock and dine and opened up McCurdy’s Restaurant & Deck on Moonlight Bay.

Menu:

They designed their menu around local ingredients and the unique taste of a charcoal grill. The taste of mesquite charcoal and a variety of fresh, local fish sets McCurdy’s apart from other restaurants. Being on the coast and in one of the best fishing locations in the country, it’s easy to get fresh, local fish on a daily basis. Ann and Dan are constantly searching for different ways to cook a variety of local fish. McCurdy’s menu is diverse, ranging from everything from pasta, ribs to a variety of pasta dishes to mac-n-cheese bites for the kids.

Drink:

Dan’s love of beer prompted him to add 10 different beers on draught and a total of 50 different beers at any given time. He would have added more but they ran out of room! They are always rotating their stock so be sure to check with your server for the current specials. If you can’t make up your mind, try a beer sampler!

Vision:

Together Ann & Dan combine their vision for great food at an affordable price with wonderful service at a beautiful scenic location. They support NC and the local economy by purchasing as many ingredients as possible from local farmers and fishermen. They participate in the Carteret Catch and Got to be NC Agriculture programs which both promote the local economy. Our steaks are Certified Angus Beef and are aged 21 days before they hit your plate.

So sit down, relax on our covered deck and enjoy the view of Moonlight Bay and some of the most beautiful sunsets while dining over the water. We at McCurdy’s thank-you for your support and patronage! Please share your thoughts or concerns with us personally, on our website or on our Facebook page.
